Bubblies and Solids, Rejoice!
Netflix released the stats for the first half of the year, and no one can’t deny that DonBelle’s on-screen tandem is simply and most definitely crushing it! Numbers don’t lie and Can’t Buy Me Love lording it over tv shows shown in the first half of the year along with He’s Into Her entering the winning column is simply enough to make any Bubbly or Solid giddy with pride and nostalgia.
Just as we have known all along, Can’t Buy Me Love is a winner. The 1 Million views or the 54, 800,000 hours viewed was enough to make it the most watched Netflix series for the first half of 2024. It has an intriguing plot that makes people hooked from Monday to Friday nights. But moreso, as Filipinos are wont to support projects because they like the lead stars, this is a victory for Donny and Belle showing one and all that they are destined to be teleserye and primetime royalties. The sheer talent of both stars and their hard work had been seen through this project, and it did attract even more viewers than the avid fandom. It did convert more people to at the least enjoy DonBelle.
What cemented their hold on dominating the first half of the year in Netflix is their first hit “He’s Into Her” Season 1 still raking in the numbers. People are just hooked. This show was first shown 3 years ago, had been watched and probably rewatched. There was also a resurgence of interest in HIH in the past months as it had been entering the top ten for a few months. It could be that those who were avid followers of Donny and Belle missed them and wanted to take a trip down memory lane as they want to look back into what got them in this in the first place. Then, there are also those who discovered Donny and Belle in Can’t Buy Me Love just can’t get enough of DonBelle that they just had to look at their different projects starting with the very first. And whatever the reason may be - He’s Into Her is still 300,000 views strong.
These data are a testament of how strong the two are. Numbers don’t lie. The numbers of Can’t Buy Me Love alone show how Donny and Belle form the new gen phenomenal loveteam. Adding He’s Into Her to the mix cements that they are their generation’s budding super stars.
