Rise is one
of the talent management arm that takes care of Belle Mariano’s career. It is
also the title of one of the songs in her Daylight album. The vocals on this
one is different from all the rest. While the other songs come off with sweet
vocals, this one has that stronger, bolder voice as Mr. Miguel Dumawal (of ABS
CBN Digital) notes, “Iba yung tapang ng boses mo dun. Parang may ooomp ang
boses mo dun.” (Eng Translation "The bravado of your voice is different in this song. Your voice had that extra ooomp." - 1:02:03 of the Daylight Listening Party). Belle admits that she
was able to relate to “Rise” as it also speaks of her journey and feels that
the song can be everyone’s anthem. She says we try to get by and try to find
hope and inspiration, and she wants to make sure that her voice would be able
to communicate just that. The follow-up question is more personal, asking about
which particular experience she use to help her load on the emotions. She
said that her whole showbiz experience can be characterized by the word rising.
Mr. Dumawal agrees as he noted that Belle is on the “Rise” as everything seems
to be happening all at the same time for her from a launching movie, Love is
Color Blind to a debut album, Daylight.

This was
composed by fellow “Rise” artist, Jayda Avanzado who is also a singer. She said that she did try to dig up on Belle’s
life to help her write “Rise”. “Rise” has become a good inspirational song. We
will be featuring it in another post as it has become a graduation song of
choice for this year’s grad ceremonies.
We know
that the music video is a story of triumph, but it hits closer to home for
Belle as it includes snippets of hurtful comments she received when she was
announced for the role of Maxpein Del Valle in 2019. It also ends with her
dream to be recognized as a good actress. The video uses some details from her
personal experience making it relatable. Making us want to protect her and “Rise”
up against bullies in general.
This is a
song in English and easily liked by international fans, but the part where they
see the hate comments make them wonder what they are all about. To complete the
experience for them, here is a translation of the Filipino comments. They will
get the full impact of what Belle went through and even the video’s story line.
They will also get to appreciate the strength that Belle has and the journey
that she goes through. The English translation is in red. Pardon the lay
outing- not a pro at that. Hoping you get to understand what the comments were
all about.
