Anticipation: He's Into Her Season 2 Episode 16- The End is Just the Beginning

This is the last episode and the last time to be posting an anticipation article for the blog and for He’s Into Her Season2. Here goes what the teaser tells us and what we think might happen.

Much of the teaser for Episode 16 are throwback scenes from monthsary celeb to the detention, and the pivotal moments of the other love stories and the heavy ones from the rain and breakup scene plus the characters breaking apart and all the others in-between.

The glimpse to Episode 16 starts with Kuya Dale’s wake as we see his large portrait adorn with flowers all around. We see the three Enriles grieving and discover that seating behind them are the Lunas: Elle, Tito Maxim, and Max(technically, also a Luna). The next scene shows Deib hugging someone whose face is hidden to us; it seems to be a girl presumably his mom while he looks at an also sad-looking Max behind him.  We, then, hear Deib, say a heart-wrenching line: “Feeling ko wala ng space sa puso ko for anything, the ball, college, us.” We get a glimpse of Deib who does not seem to have zest in life. He looks like he either lacks sleep or only does that the whole time. He does not even wear his usual garb, but mostly appears in sweats. He does not make an effort to look dapper, and simply rolls out of bed and straight to the things that have to be done for the day. No worries, Donny este Deib, you still look good in those sweats.

Food for thought:
There is such a thing as Stages of Grief. We go through each stage after a loss or a sad event, but that does not mean that when two people experience the same loss, they would be at one phase at the same time. Some take longer in one phase than the other. The thing with Deib is his grief is compounded by so many factors. He might still be blaming himself for being in that wretched bar that led to his brother’s shooting. The emotions that he feels these past few episodes are just too much for the time frame that he has to experience them. Fr
om the warmth of having found the girl he loves to having to break up with her because of complications; from the ecstasy of finally having his brother back from a long coma to the frustrations of the criminal case that intertwines with his lovelife, everything is just too difficult to digest at such a short span of time and in his teens. Deib looks like he has lost the will to try. Would you say? It looks like Deib feels guilty to be happy knowing that his brother cannot experience the same things he can anymore. There is a sense that if he allows himself some sunshine, it is like saying he does not love or value his brother. We know from episodes past that he looks up to his Kuya Dale and that he is one emotional and passionate person. Things like a loss in the family can be so heart breaking for him.

Reversal: Max on the other hand reacts with, “Pati tayo, ayaw mo na?” while looking equally forlorn and concerned. What does this line mean? Is Max ready to be back in Deib’s arms? Is there a reversal of stance regarding their relationship? Are they not on the same page once again? This time, Max is willing to give it a go while Deib is too far gone with his grief that he won’t allow himself to be happy with the love of his life? Quite an irony.

Endings and Friendships: Lorde is the most concerned about the friendship formed in their merged group. We see this when he joined detention because he feels it is a good time to bond with everyone who seems to be minding his/her own things most times lately. In this episode, standing in front of the bulletin board that features their successes as a batch, he wonders how the friendship will survive if they were to go their separate ways. Is he talking about keeping in touch after grad? Is he talking about trying to make sure they bond while there is still time to before they go to separate colleges?

We hear a flashback to Michiko’s egg speech about making the most out of the time one has, along the lines of expressing love while you can.

Pretiffied Max to the Ball: We see Max all glammed up(I think I wrote this line in the midseason trailer review haha). Max, the simple probinsyana, is in a gown, bejeweled, in make-up, and with hair coiffured. This is the glow up. Whose earrings is she wearing? Is that a gift from Tito Maxim? A Luna family heirloom perhaps? Who helps her put together this ensemble? Is it Elle who is into fashion, or does Tita Macy finally surrender the pitch fork to help Max, too, instead of minding just Elle for this Ball? The reason I ask is that mothers are usually the ones who think of the nitty gritty of things like this. Dads, in all their good intentions, seldom know the things that are important to complete the look for a party. I am glad that Max also said yes to be dolled up. You know how she gets when lavished with things posh and expensive.

She walks down the stairs, but her dad, with RJ, and other friends are the ones waiting for her. How anticlimactic to be bringing the ex who is now just a bff! We see them sharing a dance, and I don’t know if our TagSen hearts can handle it.

Max seems to be given time to say something on stage. Perhaps she does win the Belle of the Ball. Remember Kim is always the one looking at the progress of the poll and seeing that Max and Deib are the runaway winners for what seems like the King and Queen of the Ball. Sorry Queen B, you have been dethroned. You know that already, don’t you? In Deib’s life and even in campus, Max is the reigning monarch.

Deleted parts: The teaser at the end of Episode 15 has so much more to offer. For one, Deib’s line, “This is the hardest thing I ever, ever have to do,” is deleted. We also do not see the scene where Max offers her condolences to Tita Evita with a hug. The gang: Migs, Naih, and Ysay comfort Michiko. We also do not see Deib with Lorde in tow approaching Max at The Barb asking if they can talk, then he reveals that he can’t go to the Ball with her anymore. She does try to comfort him with a back hug as Deib breaks down in tears. Max talks to her best friend about her situation. She says she is at the end of her rope and doesn’t know what to do for the person she loves. RJ suggests giving space-the very same thing that Max wants in Episode 15. We also see the context of Gello’s friendship line as Lee reminds everyone that they are down to their last week in school. We see them arrive at the venue of the Ball all dressed up with Naih thanking Lee for giving her a chance to fulfill her dream. We also see Michiko receiving a text from an unknown number telling her to meet him outside. Everyone suspects Tob is the culprit, and Michiko seems to be talking to him and seemingly having the closure she so needs in that relationship. More importantly, Tita Evita seems to be trying to convince her youngest to go to the Ball. Why is there a throwback to two scenes, though, the monthsary celeb and a season 1 scene of the forehead kiss from RJ to Max when they officially become a couple in Mindoro.

Our Hopes: We hope that Deib changes his mind at the last minute to come to the Ball to receive his award or even after it, just to see Max in her gown. Occasions where one can dress up are far and few in-between. Of course, we hope that he actually hears what Max has to say about her love for him. We hope…we hope… we just hope they get to talk.

Quite honestly, hoping for something seems mute at this point as the thing that Deib goes through is no joke. It seems bleak unless there are scenes in this episode that will skip time lines to be five years or even ten years hence. Only then can it be truly feasible for things to turn up sunny-side up. When Belle says, all questions will be answered in this season (she says this in a mediacon and recently reiterated it in a vid where she talks about the ending alongside Donny), we hope that all loose ends will be tied up in Episode 16. I will hold on to two things. The song for this season is "The Best Time", and I hope that there will reasons for Deib and Max to make this the theme of their senior year. The head writer, Ms. Van says, this is Deib's redemption story. If tonight is the end, we hope he fully redeems himself and see him up and about.

The End is Just the Beginning:

This title is open to a lot of interpretations. For one, since the gang is graduating, they often say graduations are endings that lead to new beginnings. From ending one level to starting a new phase like entering a new school or finally getting a job, endings are needed to usher in something to start.

This is it:

Last anticipation article for this cycle of things. Thank you for reading what we have to say about the teasers. We might come up with more articles discussing HIH further to send it a proper send off. Maybe we can still scrutinize some stuff that needs to be discussed. We are thankful for this series because it brought us DonBelle. The second season gives birth to the actor, Donny Pangilinan, whose acting chops is raised several notches up and Belle Mariano whose years in the business is showcased in scenes that only a few can pull off with aplomb.  Magical, special are some of the words we can give. Thank you to everyone who made this possible, for taking a chance on a new loveteam at such really difficult times for the network and even the nation. That this series forms part of our pandemic therapy is a given. That this series can shake everyone to the core, make people’s heads boil or make everyone’s week brighter is a testament of its power. May He’s Into Her pave the way…
