HIH Summary: Season 2 Epi 2 Past is Present

Tito Maxim continues his monologue: He tells Max that he will not forbid her from dating Deib because he believes it should be Max’ s decision in the end, but he tries to tell her that she should learn to prioritize which relationships are important. TagSen Fans breathe a sigh of relief.

Some Deib and Tito Boyet interaction: Tito Boyet dishes advice and tries to give a morale boost to Deib who is still stressing from being caught by Maxim holding hands with Max. Deib appreciates Tito Boyet’s help and laments that he does not have anyone to talk to in the absence of his older brother. A reference to Deib’s car is made here as a journey in a long and bumpy road is the analogy towards gaining Maxim’s favor.

The Exes on The Court:  RJ hangs out on the court. This time, he is preoccupied by memories of times with Max as his friend and girlfriend. Kim interrupts him which irritates him further. Showing a contrast of how the two are handling the fact that their exes are together, but RJ waged on a bet he lost. He said he would agree to connive with Kim if she can get the ball from him and score a point which Kim did. We get a glimpse of RJ who is not a man of his words when he reiterated that he won’t join her evil schemes because he does not want Max to be hurt.

An Interview with The GF’s Dad: Next scene shows Lorde trying to calm down a visibly ruffled Deib as they get out of an elevator towards a corridor, and they are met by a very happy Kim who exchanged places with Chloe for this group project much to Lorde’s disappointment. Kim goes in for the kill trying to set Deib on the path to memory lane and even starts to hug him when left alone with him.

Caught in the Act: The door opens revealing Maxim catching the hug which leads Deib to panic and to lash out on Lorde and Kim who are blabbering beside him.

Heart to Heart: And Maxim calls Deib in to talk to him alone. Maxim reveals his cards and says he does not like him because of how he treats people and that he has not changed that much. He probably expected Deib to deny it, but the younger boy told him that he agrees and that he will try to change because Max deserves a better man as a boyfriend.

Sidelight
Ysay and Lee
: Ysay and Lee interview Yohann, resident artist of Benison Batch ‘97. We see how they have the same interests and how they appreciate each other. Here, they stumble upon an important fact about a formal inquiry in front of the student body and the disciplinary committee on his vandalizing school property.

Comic Relief: Naih, Michiko, and Karlie interview the headmaster, but they seem to have come in unprepared without set questions agreed upon before going to the appointment. The headmaster reminds them of the point of the exercise to “gain perspective and learn from our mistakes.”

Plot Twist?: The three students are dismissed as Tita Macy arrives in the Headmaster’s Office. Macy is being tapped to work on their homecoming, but she is hesitant as she hints on Elle’s expulsion case to which the headmaster has some good news that made Macy hug him twice, and Deib and Max see this through the glass-panelled door.

That Uncomfortable Interview: Migs, Max, and Chloe are in Elle’s condo unit to interview Tita Macy. Elle helps out her sis to coordinate this, but Migs takes the lead because Max is still not Tita Macy’s favorite person. We discover that she is quite accomplished as a designer, herself. When the questions turn personal, it was quite uncomfortable for Max, Elle, and Tita Macy as facts surrounding the births of the half-sisters are dug and the tangled relationship that led to this, but Chloe being the mean girl that she is just has to blurt out hurtful words to Max.

Getting to Know the Past: Max confronts her grandmother and uncle on why she does not know things surrounding her birth. Tito Boyet says Maxim is a free man when he becomes her mom’s beau. In Lola Baby’s defense, Max’ mom is so happy with the relationship that they do not want to get in the way by asking questions. Tito Boyet tells the girls that it is easy to pretend that you have no fault when no one knows what you have done.  We learn that Tito Boyet returns the wallet that Max’ mom pickpocketed from Maxim. “Mamatay na sa utang, wag lang mabuhay sa nakaw” is apparently Tito Boyet’s motto according to his niece.

Clearing the Air: Max watches Tita Macy’s interview in the kitchen especially that part about being with Maxim for 7 years, engaged and all but breaks up because of Max’ mother, and her dad suddenly enters and hears the vid. Maxim clarifies when Max asks. It is not technically a physical affair because he breaks it off with Macy when he finds out he is developing feelings for Max’s mom. He does admit that he probably emotionally cheated before breaking it off. Maxim apologizes.

Some Learnings from Father and Daughter: Max says, “It is better to be hurt by the truth than to be comforted with a lie.” Tito Maxim responds, “It is not easy to tell the truth and may not even feel right.”

No Easy Answers: Max wants to know if Tita Macy is really the one loved by his dad because they did end up together, but Maxim just says life is difficult for him at that time because of personal problems like his Dad getting sick that he has to go back to Manila, and Max's mom breaking things off because it is complicated and without telling him that she was preggers.

Tita Macy is there for Maxim at those moments. They become friends, she forgives him, and he realizes that he still loves her.

Maxim admits that there are no perfect stories because he is far from being one.

They clear the air as Max affirms that she forgives her Dad because he is a good man and a good father which is good enough for Max.

A Glimmer of Hope: Maxim wants to do good with Max and says he trusts and believes Max and will give Deib a chance, but Deib should go on a date with Maxim before going out with Max.

That Tense Lunch Date: Tito Maxim goes out with Deib, Max, Tito Boyet, and Lola Baby for a lunch date. Maxim asks if Tito Boyet knows about Deib’s bullying. Max gets uncomfortable in letting her dad know that she has an ex.

Two BFs?: Maxim is supposed to get to know Deib, but ends up also knowing RJ who is BF #2(best friend according to Tito Boyet). Tito Boyet asks him to drop off Lola’s meds that are in the condo.

Apparently, Max and RJ have some rituals of eating egg with a heart drawing using Ketchup every March 11 because that is the day of the tsunami in Japan.

Tito Maxim realizes that he missed out on Max’s life, and there is a lot to know about her. He thanks RJ for being there for Max when he was not and thanks Deib for lunch.

On The Court: The date includes a basketball one-on-one between Deib and Tito Maxim, but the latter asks to make it two-on-two with Tito Boyet and RJ as additions- RJ and Tito Maxim vs. Deib and Tito Boyet. Deib is tense as Max cannot join them because she needs to be with her Lola who got tired from the excursion. She reminds him that he already got the Championship and the MVP plum and that the real goal is to win over Maxim to root for their relationship.

Our favorite Benison bball player is trash talked by his gf’s father, no less. Tito Maxim even calls him MBP – Most Benched Player-ouch! The unthinkable happens; thinking he is elbowing RJ, Deib ends up hurting Tito Maxim, as if the tension is not enough.

Deib apologizes, and Tito Maxim says it is a part of the game. They then talk about Colleges from varsity try-outs to courses and dreams. Tito Maxim dishes out advice on the boys needing to learn how to play together and realizes how he does not know anything about his daughter’s dream as Tito Boyet divulges RJ's dream of being a doctor and Max wanting to be a nurse.

Ohhhh That Pool Scene: Despite the game being Deib’s worst, the day ends in triumph for the TagSen couple as Deib gets to spend time with Max in her father’s house. Max and Deib share moments by the pool where he laments the same realization that Maxim has-knowing too little about Max. Max then asks Deib to be her best friend, too, and swears to honestly answer everything he asks.

Max admits that being a nurse is not her dream anymore. She jokes about wanting to be an astronaut, and Deib says that will be LDR extreme edition. Max quips “I love you from the moon.”

And the scene that ensues is too much for words….It feels like I am spying on someone's private babe time.

Sidelight: Michiko’s grief and Naih’s faux pas: We see Michiko still broken-hearted and focusing on the past. Ysay and Lee try to tell her to take her time grieving, but Naih tries to be funny by saying, the family can hide well because they have plenty of money to use. This makes Michiko feel bad and leave the bench.

Lorde Is In:  Deib goes to the hospital with Lee and Lorde in tow. Lorde is delighted to hear that Deib considers him to be a part of Alpha 3.

At The Church: Deib texts Max asking her to go to the Church so that they can talk.

Max in her white dress bearing pink flowers is at the Church entrance looking for her MOO. And she walks down the aisle towards Deib who is waiting by the altar, but a shadow looms behind her and a bright light can be seen, Deib notices something, and Max stops to look back. We don’t know what happens next.

Cliff Hanger: Tito Boyet is stressed out because the text messages are increasing the threats as the sender now uses Max as a bait to get him to respond.
